Accounting systems
I’ve spent a lot of time lately going over different billing systems. I’ve looked at online systems, the standard ‘boxed’ software, and smaller systems I can use on my iPhone. Each have their pros and cons.
The online program has the best user interface. It was the first one I tried, so I’m a little partial to it. Unfortunately, I just can’t pay a monthly charge when I don’t have a guaranteed monthly income. It also doesn’t have built-in expense reporting (what?).
The boxed software is just plain scary! I can’t even begin to use all the bells and whistles it comes with. And, no iPhone interface. I have to have that – I won’t remember to do it later.
So, I’ve settled with the smaller product with the strong iPhone interface. I’ve chosen Billings and Billings Touch. Anything I can do on the desktop I can do from my phone. They also sync well. The user interface isn’t as strong, and there is a lot of learning to do on my part.
My CPA just wants it all to match up. He is the one who told me I didn’t need the boxed software. Whew! Thanks, John! Sorry I couldn’t do your software, but I need that interface!
Wish me luck! Starting the year with it. Let’s see how it’s going in six months.
